News from New Zealand

A message from "out of the blue" led to the discovery that there are a small number of Gisby's here - all on North Island, according to the telephone directory.

A Family Tree sent to me by Todd Gisby has five generations on it, headed (on our side) by James Gisby and Elizabeth (nee Coleman).

With the help of other members of the same family, it his been established that their original Gisby ancestors came from Nottingham. They have now been linked to an existing family from the same place. Further research has revealed that the Gisby side travelled up from London in the early 1800's, and some of them later continued on to Birmingham and Leeds, Yorkshire.
